This section contains information about our current awards and this years' winners. Read in conjunction with the EDWG Wine show rules.
Winemaker Of The Year The WOTY is the Eltham Guild Winemaker of the Year. This is determined by totalling the three top scoring wines in the show from any Eltham & District Amateur Winemakers Guild member, at least one wine of which must be a country wine, one a grape wine, and at least one of the three wines must be current vintage.
In 2009 Guild sponsor Costante Imports donated a plaque providing for a Perpetual Trophy (Costante WOTY Perpetual Trophy).

Grape Winemaker of the Year The Best Grape Winemaker award is determined by the highest cumulative score of three (3) grape wines across three (3) different grape wine classes by an individual winemaker, or group of winemakers.

Country Winemaker of the Year The Best Country Winemaker award is determined by the highest cumulative score of three (3) country wines across three (3) different country wine classes by an individual winemaker, or group of winemakers.

Bayside-Hillside Challenge Perpetual Trophy
The best score for Country Winemaker of the Year judged at both Eltham and Frankston Wineshow is awarded the Frankston-Eltham Perpetual Trophy. This is a plaque donated jointly by the two Members of Parliament for Eltham and Frankston.

Woman Winemaker of the Year Best Woman Winemaker is exclusively for the single highest scoring wine made by a woman or syndicate of women, marked as such on the entry form. In the event of a tie, the winner shall be decided by a taste off organised by the Chief Steward.

Bill Christophersen Trophy The Bill Christophersen Award is a perpetual trophy awarded annually to the maker of the best Shiraz at the Eltham Wine Show. The award was introduced at the 2008 Show to commemorate Bill Christophersen, one of the Guild longest serving supporters.

Jo Ilian Trophy The EDWG Wine Show Committee annually decides the grape or country fruit variety that will be judged in the following year for the Jo Ilian Trophy. The very beautiful Jo Ilian Perpetual Trophy, the end of a wine barrel, was made up and donated by Guild sponsor, Heritage Coopers. Jo Ilian was the founder of the Eltham & District Winemakers Guild.
