With 40 wine shows behind us, and up to 700 entries, the EDWG Annual wine show is the largest home winemaking show in Australia. The show receives many high standard entries from home winemakers from Victoria, NSW, South Australia and Tasmania who all have a real passion for making great wine.

Entries open after 1 October. Check the site at that time for the entry form. If you’ve entered before then expect a reminder.

The classes of entries cover country (berry, fruit, herb, vegetables, flowers) and grape (Shiraz, Cab Sav, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Chardonnay and many other varietals) winemaking styles. Last year we introduced a new class for less common grape varieties.

The Guild encourages entries by woman winemakers and offers an award for the best woman winemaker.

The Guild prides itself with the provision of  complete result booklets that have been printed overnight for  patrons to compare their appraisal of the wine with that of the judges.

Judged by over 15 highly regarded and professional winemakers, all entries vie for recognition through medal awards, with separate trophies given for the best Country Wine and the best Red Wine. The Eltham Guild Winemaker of the Year Award is given to the amateur winemaker who gets the most votes for their top three wines.

The annual wine show also has something for everyone, even though you may not have entered a wine in the judging program. We offer workshops covering Country Wine Making, Sparkling Wine Making, Food and wine matching.
